FAMILY SESSIONS
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR SESSION?
You want your photos to reflect who you really are, so wear what you feel best in. Your life is already beautiful; your kids don’t need a fancy outfit to love a photo of them or you. My one piece of advice is to start by dressing Mom (or your most difficult family member) first! Find something she feels comfortable and beautiful in, and then build everyone's outfits around that. Think coordinated vs matchy matchy.
WILL YOU TELL US HOW TO POSE?
Posing is my specialty! I want you to love your photos, and I have an extensive background in natural posing techniques and countless hours of continuing education and real-life experience so that all of you look your absolute best in your portraits. All you have to do is show up and be yourselves, and I’ll handle the rest.
I WORRY THAT MY PARTNER WILL LOOK MISERABLE IN THE PHOTOS BECAUSE HE HAS NO REAL INTEREST IN DOING A SESSION. ANY ADVICE?
I have a lot of experience with reserved partners, so I make sure to acknowledge them and their feelings. And not to brag, but I’ve got some mad skills when it comes to working with husbands and partners (especially the reluctant ones); I’ve even been called the Dad Whisperer. I make jokes (we talk about farts a lot!), connect with your kids, sing the theme songs to their favorite TV shows, talk about video games they like, laugh at their silly behavior, and praise them for being themselves. The results are in the portraits they love.
DO I HAVE TO BE IN THE PICTURES?
In a word: yes. You are an integral part of your family's story, any portrait session would be incomplete without you. Give the gift of your presence to your children, they will thank you for it and treasure these captured moments with you forever.
WHAT IS A SESSION WITH YOU LIKE?
A session with me is fun! My approach is very relaxed. I want our time together to be comfortable, easygoing, and a chance for you to make some memories of and with your family. My goal is to make you and your family feel like old friends. I am a big goofball and will stop at nothing to make your children show me their true personalities and authentic smiles.
